Mommy’s Light 3rd
Annual Family Race Day Raises $47,000
Run/walk fundraiser benefits children whose mothers
are terminally ill or have died
Exton, PA –
Mommy’s Light Lives On Fund® announced today that it
raised more than $47,000 on Saturday, April 28th
at its 3rd Annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk
Race sponsored by Kensey Nash and GRACO. Mommy’s Light
is an organization that brings joy and comfort to
children and teens whose mothers are terminally ill or
have died by helping them keep alive family traditions
and simple pleasures. More than 800 people attended the
race – a record turnout.
“The
3rd Annual Mommy’s Light Lives on Fund® Race
was a tremendous success,” said Laura Munts, Executive
Director of Mommy’s Light. “Not only did we have a
record turnout, we raised more than $47,000 for Mommy’s
Light. I would like to thank all of our generous
sponsors, including Kensey Nash and GRACO, as well as
Joan Kistler whose efforts resulted in an additional
$5,000 donation to our cause. Mommy’s Light has
dramatically expanded the availability of services,
including mailing 36,000 bereavement education packages
to school counselors across the United States, so this
support could not come at a better time.”
Joan
Kistler, of Wealth Alliance Company, Chester Springs,
PA, secured a $5,000 grant from the MDRT Foundation, the
philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, The
Premier Association of Financial Professionals. Kistler
presented a check on their behalf to Mommy's Light’s
Executive Director, Laura Munts.
“Every year this fundraiser gets better and I would like
to thank the tremendous race committee members, Mommy’s
Light staff and volunteers and participants who make the
race so special each year,” said Hillary Delone, Race
Founder and Committee Chair. “We look forward to using
the funds raised to help maternally grieving children,
teens and their families.”
Cash
awards were given to the top three male and female
finishers overall and prizes were given to the top male
and female finishers for individual age groups. The
winners of the race were Darryl Brown from Exton and
Cristina Reimer from Chester Springs. Other male and
female top finishers included Daniel Winder from
Shillington, Leo Suniaga of West Chester, Diane Tilley
of Devon and Marion Smoot of Downingtown.
