 Mommy's Light Names Chief Operating Officer and Welcomes New Advisory Committee Member

MOMMY’S LIGHT LIVES ON FUND NAMES CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 AND WELCOMES NEW ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER

 

Exton, PA – March 29, 2007 -- Mommy's Light has announced that Joe Fazio has joined the organization as Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Leroy Nunery, II, has accepted a position on the Advisory Committee.

          Founded in 1997, Mommy’s Light Lives On Fund brings joy and comfort to children and teens whose mothers have died or are terminally ill by helping them keep alive traditions and simple pleasures they shared with their mothers. (www.mommyslight.org) 

A native of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Fazio previously served as Director of Business Development at IMC Construction, Malvern, PA.  "Joe brings a breadth of knowledge in the area of management,” said Laura Munts, Executive Director, Mommy’s Light.  “We are thrilled to have someone with his strong business background join Mommy’s Light at this exciting time of growth." 

Fazio will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization, including human resources, direct services, technology and accounting, as Mommy’s Light begins to expand geographically from the Delaware Valley. 

Prior to joining IMC, Fazio was Director of Operations for Genuardi’s Family Markets, Norristown, PA.  As a key member of the Executive Management team, he was instrumental in leading Genuardi’s through its growth years, managing all operational functions for the company.  He has prior experience in the non-profit sector, and is currently an officer on the Board of Directors of the National Melanoma Research Foundation.  A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree, he received his MBA from Temple University in Philadelphia.  He lives in Blue Bell, PA. 

Nunery is President of Edison Charter Schools, the leading for-profit provider of education management services for public charter schools. He oversees a portfolio of independent charter schools which serve 15,000 students in 14 states and the District of Columbia, serves as co-chairman of Edison’s Operating Committee, and member of its Executive Committee. 

Previously, Nunery was Vice President, Business Services for the University of Pennsylvania, where he was heavily engaged in the strategic planning and implementation of Penn’s renowned West Philadelphia Initiatives.  His prior experience also includes sixteen years in various roles in corporate banking and capital markets work, and four years in Vice President positions with the National Basketball Association.

Active in the community, Nunery holds directorships on the Financial Performance and Standards Committee of Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Inc. and Savoy Bank, a financial services group under formation which will provide full banking services to the underserved communities in New York City.  He has also served as a director of many organizations such as WXPN-FM; The Enterprise Center of West Philadelphia; The University City District; the Philadelphia Sports Congress; and the Please Touch Museum for Children in Philadelphia.  Past activities include: National President of the National Black MBA Association, Inc.; Board of Directors, Pitney Bowes, Inc.; and the Board of Trustees, Lafayette College.  A native of Englewood, NJ, he resides in Wyndmoor, PA.
