Agency Charity Board Members present $11,000 check to
Mommy’s Light
Newtown Square, PA – July
8, 2005 – Agency Charities (a group of State Farm Agents
from the Delaware Valley) donated $11,000 to Mommy’s
Light Lives On Fund in honor of agent Dennis Kurek and
his wife, Maryanne, of Newtown Square, PA, who were
killed in an automobile accident in 1998. Mommy’s Light
is one of three charities selected to benefit from the
group’s annual golf tournament. A Delaware Valley based
non-profit organization, Mommy’s Light brings joy and
comfort to children and teens whose mothers are in
life-threatening situations or are deceased. Visit

“Mommy’s Light helped to make this year’s outing the
most successful of its seven - year run,” said Chuck
McAveney, State Farm agent of Havertown, PA. “It was
very meaningful to have Mommy’s Light as a beneficiary
since this golf outing was started to help the Kurek’s
sons after their parents were killed and Mommy’s Light
helps maternally bereaved youngsters.”
Mommy’s Light was founded by Mary Murphy, a Newtown
Square, PA resident, less than three months before she
died of cancer. Mary and her son created a plan to keep
her spirit alive by preserving special traditions they
shared. That philosophy is the basis for Mommy's Light's
program today. Currently, Mommy's Light's services are
available to young people in southeastern PA, southern
NJ and northern DE.
