Malvern, PA – November 9, 2004 –
America’s home shopping diva, Kathy Levine, lived up to
her name as she deftly auctioned off a week-long stay at a
fabulous castle in Brittany, France at the inaugural
"Night of Stars" Benefit for Mommy’s Light Lives On Fund,
Saturday, November 6th at The Farmhouse at The People’s
Light & Theater in Malvern, PA. NBC’s Steve Levy and Linda
Swain co-hosted the event, helping to raise close to
$40,000 for the organization.
More than 140 guests attended,
bidding on dozens of tempting prizes, including a Comcast
luxury box at the Wachovia Center for a 76ers game and an
exquisite diamond necklace from Bernie Robbins Jeweler.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Mommy’s Light, a
Delaware Valley-based non-profit organization that brings
joy and comfort to children and teens whose mothers are in
life-threatening situations or are deceased.
"Steve, Linda and Kathy did a
fantastic job getting our very generous guests excited
about the enticing auction items," said Laura Munts,
Executive Director and Downingtown, PA resident. "This is
a fantastic way to celebrate Mommy’s Light’s 7th
anniversary! Because of our guests’ and donors’
enthusiastic response to the event, we look forward to
making the event an annual Mommy’s Light tradition!"
Mommy’s Light was founded by Mary
Murphy, a Newtown Square, PA resident, less than three
months before she died of cancer. Mary and her son created
a plan to keep her spirit alive by preserving special
traditions they shared. That philosophy is the basis for
Mommy's Light's program today. Currently, Mommy's Light's
services are available to children and teens in
southeastern PA, southern NJ and northern DE.
