Philadelphia, PA –
January 20, 2004 – CN8's Lynn Doyle and HSN's Kathy
Levine braved the snow and frigid temperatures that
seized the Philadelphia area last Thursday to bring joy
and warmth at the Whole Foods Market of South Street
which, along with 6 other area Whole Foods Markets, was
celebrating a Regional 5% Day fundraiser for Mommy’s
Light Lives On Fund. The event raised $15,000 for
Mommy’s Light.
Mommy’s Light is a non-profit organization based in the
Delaware Valley that brings joy and comfort to young
people whose mothers are in life-threatening situations
or are deceased by helping them keep alive traditions
and simple pleasures they shared with their mothers.
“Whole Foods Markets is delighted to have raised $15,000
for Mommy’s Light, especially on a day when road and
weather conditions were so bad,” said Brett Mapp,
Marketing Specialist/Community Liaison for Whole Foods
Market of South Street. “We enjoyed having Lynn Doyle,
Kathy Levine and the Mommy’s Light volunteers who
greeted shoppers throughout the day.”
“It was a great day for Mommy’s Light’s true colors to
shine,” said Laura Munts, Executive Director of Mommy’s
Light. “As I traveled from store to store, I was so
impressed by the commitment to service demonstrated by
our volunteers, the local college cheerleaders, CN8’s
Lynn Doyle, Gregg Murphy and Bruce Casella, HSN’s Kathy
Levin and NBC’s Steve Levy who braved the weather
conditions to support this event. And the Whole Foods
Markets shoppers and team members were terrific!”
Mommy’s Light was founded by Mary Murphy, a Newtown
Square, PA resident, less than three months before she
died of cancer. Mary and her son created a plan to keep
her spirit alive by preserving special traditions they
shared. That philosophy is the basis for Mommy's Light's
program today. Currently, Mommy's Light's free services
are available to more than 20,000 eligible young people
in southeastern PA, southern NJ and northern DE. For
