Ridley Township, PA - 27 August
2002 - Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar in Ridley
Township hosted hundreds of local business owners, elected
officials and residents at its August 26th VIP Party.
Attended by more than 500 people, the event raised $3,000
for Mommy’s Light Lives On Fund.
Mommy's Light is a non-profit
organization based in the Delaware Valley that brings joy
to young people whose mothers are in life-threatening
situations or deceased by keeping alive traditions and
simple pleasures they shared with their mothers.
"The fund was created by Mary
Murphy of Newtown Square less than three months before she
died of cancer in 1997," said Downingtown resident Laura
Munts, Mommy's Light President. "Mary and her son created
a plan to keep her spirit alive by preserving special
traditions they shared. Today, our services are available
to young people in southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New
Jersey and northern Delaware." Mommy's Light estimates
that 20,000 young people in the Delaware Valley are
dealing with the potential or actual deaths of their
mothers.
"The Ridley area and Applebee’s
are a perfect match," said Harry Rose, founder and CEO of
The Rose Group, which owns and operates the new Applebee’s
located in Ridley Township on MacDade Boulevard. "We had
an exciting VIP Party and were delighted to meet so many
of our new neighbors and friends. Partnering with Mommy’s
Light added to the evening’s success. We raised $3000 for
Mommy’s Light, $700 of which was donated by the Applebee’s
staff from their tips."
